Our mineral collection is stunning. From the dazzling and rare mineral and gem collection housed in the Globe and Gem Gallery to the seven foot tall amethyst geode, our displays showcase a wealth of minerals and gems that highlight Earth’s spectacular natural beauty.
Rock Collection
PME’s East Gallery located in the Earth Sciences Building along Main Mall is the perfect place to tour through Earth’s rock cycle. Come by and discover volcanic rocks that cooled from hot lava to sedimentary rocks made from the calcitic skeletons of creatures that once swam in Earth’s ancient oceans.
Globe and Gem Gallery
The Globe and Gem Gallery is home to Canada’s first and only OmniGlobe, a spherical interactive display on which you can project images and animations of planets, real time weather, ocean currents, tsunami wave data, forest fires, ancient ice coverage, plate tectonics, and much more.
Earth Sciences Building Atrium
The Earth Sciences Building Atrium showcases our brand new Evolution of Earth display. Come by and tour 4.5 billions years through Earth’s dynamic history—from the early Hadean Earth that was partially molten and lifeless to our present day Earth that is teaming with an enormous diversity of life.
Natural Disasters
